I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the pause feature on the cans, more specifically on the left can. Press the Beats logo on the exterior of the left can and the sound will drop off, letting you communicate with the outside world. There is something incredibly cool about pressing that panel, holding a quick conversation, and then releasing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], going back into your private world of sound.
Alright,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], lets start with the look. I have the white Studios, which is awesome because they match my winter coat. I can not tell you how many people have stopped me on the street or subway to ask me about the headphones. They are definite conversation starters — I even got some cutie’s number because of these babies. Score! That said the cans fit comfortably over my ears and are cushioned by baby soft leather which also helps keep out unwanted noise. I have yet to experience sweaty ear and that might be because it’s winter, but regardless, I can wear them for hours and near feel the slightest bit of discomfort.
I’ve been spending quite a lot of time with the Beats By Dr. Dre Studio headphones. Ever since I first laid eyes on them, I had been in a state of lust and awe. So when I finally got my hands on a pair I was ready to either be blown away or once again disappointed by the hype machine. I’m happy to report that my experience with the headphones have been the former and not the latter.

The only real cons I can come up with are the batteries and the price. The Studios require two AAA batteries to get the party started, but it’s to be expected with all the tech hidden in those relatively small cans. The other downer is the price. With a $349.99 price tag, a lot of people will be put off. The majority of the population is fine with the pre-packaged headphones that come with their iPods, so it will take a little convincing to get them to make the investment. And the Studios truly are an investment if you want to hear your music at its absolute best.
Now my favorite part, the sound. These headphones vibrate on my skull and it,s a good thing. I’ve listened to Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock, Alternative, Jazz, and even some Classical and the results have always been the same. I can hear every little nuance from every song. Thanks to the painstaking work put in on the speaker design,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], noise cancellation, and amplifiers I can literally feel the music, especially when I put something seriously bass-heavy on my Zune. That tinny sound you hear with most headphones as they try to do the bass justice is non-existent. The best part is that when I’m done trying to deafen myself, there’s hardly ever any after effect — namely that ringing in your ears that lets you know that maybe next time you want to turn it down a little. I don’t need to blow my hearing to try to hear everything, no matter how soft or loud you will hear everything in crystal clear clarity.
I’ve let a family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], friends, and a few strangers try out my Beats so they could understand the difference. The good news is they’re converts to the high-end headphone movement. The bad news is they keep trying to hit me up for mine.

but becautilize it abides.

A hundred yards away was a straight road, show- ing white in the
moonlight. Endeavouring to orient himself, as a surveyor or navigator
might say, the man moved his eyes slowly along its visible length and at
a distance of a quarter-mile to the south of his station saw, dim and
grey in the haze, a group of horsemen riding to the north. Behind them
were men afoot, marching in column, with dimly gleaming rifles aslant
above their shoulders. They moved slowly and in silence. Another group
of horsemen, another regiment of infantry, another and another --all in
unceasing motion toward the man's point of view, past it, and beyond. A
battery of artillery followed, the cannoneers riding with folded arms on
limber and caisson. And still the interminable procession came out of
the obscurity to south and passed into the obscurity to north, with
never a sound of voice, nor hoof, nor wheel.
The man could not rightly understand: he thought himself deaf; said
so, and heard his own voice, al- though it had an unfamiliar quality
that almost alarmed him; it disappointed his ear's expectancy in the
matter of timbre and resonance. But he was not deaf, and that for the
moment sufficed.

Survey Finds Americans Less Concerned About HIV/AIDS
By Michael Lipin

Washington

29 April 2009A U.S. health research group says fewer Americans think HIV/AIDS is a major national health problem,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and many Americans still view the disease as a stigma. The Obama administration says it plans to tackle those problems through a new public awareness campaign.A new health survey in the U.S. says Americans have become much less concerned about HIV/AIDS in recent years despite signs the epidemic is worsening.Last August, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there were 40 percent more new HIV infections in the country each year than previously believed. But the survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation suggests that just six percent of Americans consider HIV/AIDS to be the country's top health problem. That is down from 44 percent in 1995.Drew AltmanThe non-profit group's president, Drew Altman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said in Washington Tuesday the study shows a creeping complacency about HIV/AIDS among the public."The sense of urgency about HIV going down, attention to the epidemic going down, so all the arrows moving in the wrong direction - we would like to see those moving in the other direction - and that is a problem, that is a challenge,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Altman. The group based its report on a nation-wide telephone poll of 2,500 adults from late January to early March this year.Their survey found that a significant share of respondents have misconceptions about HIV/AIDS.The report also says public attitudes toward people living with HIV/AIDS are still a problem.Jonathan RochkindJonathan Rochkind is a researcher at Public Agenda, a New York-based non-profit that also is studying public awareness about HIV/AIDS. He recently interviewed a group of people in the city under age 30."We started talking about food preparation. I asked them how would they feel if they knew their wait staff was HIV positive -[they are] very concerned about that," said Rochkind. "Dentist - very concerned about that. Even though they told me point blank,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a mere 15 minutes before that you do not get HIV through casual contact. Risk assessment is still off in these areas here."Jeff Crowley is the top advisor on HIV/AIDS to the Obama administration,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which launched a public awareness campaign this month to improve education about the deadly disease. He says the government is working with community groups to devise a strategy for combatting discrimination against HIV/AIDS patients."One of the ways that we can help to address stigma is to normalize it - make people see that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], well, for one, we protect their civil rights so they do not fear violence, discrimination," said Crowley. The survey's authors say a key positive finding is that Americans support more government spending to deal with the epidemic.
